Mobile networks

Mobile telephony is probably the fastest growing technology in India; India is now the fastest growing mobile market in the world with six million new subscribers added every month. For millions of Indians, mobile phones may be their only gadget and their main method of modern communication. It makes a lot of sense, therefore, to look at using mobile phones in banking and payment services and that's exactly what some companies are doing. One of the most interesting mobile payments systems comes from Paymate. Like most such services, it's SMS based and enables you to make payments online or across the counter using your mobile.

Networking architecture

This is an opportunity for you to take on a leadership role. It gives you the chance to connect more, and display your own networking/organising skills. Your forum will help generate leads for the members of your forum and in turn will bring leads to you."When I visited Orkut for the first time, I saw that there was no specific group for Voice and Accent Trainers. I felt there should be one so I went ahead and took the initiative of creating one," says Kolkata based trainer, Amit Ojha.He searched for trainer profiles and sent invitations. Today his group has more than 62 members. "As a moderator, it's my duty to see that messages are related to the profession. A good moderator should always keep a watch on all activities of the group," he says.To start your own network, some web sites charge a premium while others like Rediffconnexions offer this feature free. Many forums also organise offline activities. Delhi based Sairee Chahal Povaiah who manages the popular Delhi National Capital Region network on Ryze.com, tips you off on how to organise offline activities. Keep member interests in mind. For instance, the NCR group has hosted varied events: group discussions on tourism, knowledge management, entrepreneurship, heritage walks, communication workshop, theatre workshops, festive mixers, karaoke nights etc. Keep logistics manageable. If it gets too complex, one cannot sustain it financially.Get people involved. There are more helping hands around than one anticipates. People like to volunteer in activities that interest them.

Telecommunication

Telecommunication is the transmission of signals over a distance for the purpose of communication. In modern times, this process typically involves the sending of electromagnetic waves by electronic transmitters, but in earlier times telecommunication may have involved the use of smoke signals, drums or semaphore. Today, telecommunication is widespread and devices that assist the process, such as the television, radio and telephone, are common in many parts of the world. There are also many networks that connect these devices, including computer networks, public telephone networks, radio networks and television networks. Computer communication across the Internet is one of many examples of telecommunication.

Telecommunication systems are generally designed by telecommunication engineers. Early inventors in the field include Alexander Graham Bell, Guglielmo Marconi and John Logie Baird. Telecommunication is an important part of the world economy with the telecommunication industry's revenue being placed at just under 3 percent of the gross world product.
